Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on St-Jean-Baptiste Day

Ottawa (Ontario) – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on St-Jean-Baptiste Day:

“Today, Francophones across our great country celebrate the shared bonds of language and heritage that unite us from coast to coast to coast.

“From the picturesque neighbourhoods of la Belle Province, to the beautiful Acadian landscapes, to the thriving suburbs of Ontario and beyond, Canada is blessed with 7 million Francophones who speak our country’s founding language and live their heritage with pride.

“Thanks to their tireless efforts, the beauty and uniqueness of Canada’s French-speaking communities are recognized worldwide. Together, we thank the Francophone authors, artists and entrepreneurs who make Canada’s French language and culture shine here at home and abroad.

“Common Sense Conservatives are proud of the French language and are at your side to defend and promote it in our country.

“As our Quebec friends also celebrate the Fête nationale, we wish all Quebecers and Francophones across the country a happy Saint Jean Baptiste!”
